     In the INFERNO, the spirits are blown by the wind.  In HEART OF DARKNESS, there is a similar image in Marlow's account of a native who was killed only because he left open a shutter that should have been kept closed: "He had no restraint, no restraint--just like Kurtz--a tree swayed by the wind."
